LONG BEACH, Calif. – Johnathan Lavallee and Devereaux Harrison have been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-West Region Team. Lavallee was a First Team selection while Harrison was a Second Team selection.
Lavallee put together a career year and adds to a list of accolades that already includes a First Team All-American selection by Collegiate Baseball as well as Big West Co-Pitcher of the Year.
After starting the year in the bullpen, the right-hander became the Friday night ace for the Dirtbags posting an 8-1 record with a conference-leading 1.89 ERA. In 62 innings of work, he totaled 73 strikeouts and surrendered just 16 walks. His .160 opponent average is the lowest by a Long Beach State pitcher since 2005.
Harrison has also garnered a lengthy list of awards after a dominant season at the back end of the bullpen, most recently a Freshman First Team All-American selection by the NCBWA.
The right-handed freshman tossed 34.1 innings in 18 appearances, posting a 1.57 ERA in the process. He racked up 42 strikeouts while surrendering just 12 walks as opponents hit just .175 against him. He was also one of just 23 relievers to notch double-digit saves finishing the year with 10.
The duo is now nominated for ABCA All-America honors, which will be announced Saturday, June 19.
