Calvin Estrada has earned Big West weekly honors for the first time in his career.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Calvin Estrada has been named the Big West Player of the Week for his performance against UC Davis this past weekend. It is the first time in his career, he has earned weekly honors.
The senior went 9-for-17 (.529) at the plate with a triple, two home runs and eight runs driven in recording multiple hits and at least one RBI in all four games against the Aggies.
With the two bombs over the weekend, Estrada finishes the year with 10 homers becoming the first Dirtbag to reach double-digit home runs in a single-season since 2008 when Jason Corder hit 13.
The Van Nuys native sparked the comeback in the series finale on Sunday with a three-run blast to decrease the deficit to just one run before the Dirtbags went on to score six in the seventh and complete the sweep.
Long Beach State finished the 2021 season as one of the hottest teams in the country winning their final six games and 15 of their last 17, but did not receive an at-large bid for the postseason.
