Mariah Walker named Big West Player of The Week

Walker scored three goals and dished out three assists as the Long Beach State women's water polo team split its matches against UC San Diego.

Long Beach, Calif. — After a big performance against UC San Diego last weekend, freshman Mariah Walker was named Big West Player of the Week.

In the Beach's 15-14 Big West victory over the Tritons, Walker scored two goals while going 2-for-2 on her shot attempts. She also dished out two assists as the Beach picked up their first conference win.

Walker also scored one goal and had one assist against the Tritons on Saturday as LBSU wrapped up the regular season.

The freshman is the first Beach athlete to earn the honors this season and the first Beach athlete since Elena Kotanchyan earned the honors last March.
