Lavallee Named Big West Pitcher of the Week

Johnathan Lavallee has earned Big West weekly honors for the first time in his career.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Johnathan Lavallee has been named the Big West Pitcher of the Week. It is the first time in his career, he has earned conference weekly honors.
In his second start of the season, the junior threw arguably the best game by a Dirtbags thus far. In seven shutout innings, he allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out a career-best eight hitters.
The 6-4 right-hander was through 6.1 innings without allowing a hit to the Mustangs until a one-out double in the top of the seventh ended his no-hit bid.
Lavallee needed just 94 pitches to get through seven scoreless en route to his second win of the season.
In combination with Matt Fields, the Dirtbags had their first shutout of a ranked opponent since May 19, 2018.
In two starts this season, he has thrown 13 innings and allowed just a single earned run. Overall on the season, he sports a microscopic 0.48 ERA which ranks tops in the Big West and second in the entire nation among pitchers with at least 10 innings.
Lavallee and the Dirtbags are scheduled for an off-week this week due to the conference-only schedule. They return to action on April 23 as they host UC Santa Barbara for a four-game series.
