Kashauna Williams, Katie Kennedy Named to Big West All-First Team

Long Beach State duo earn honors after leading the Beach this season
Complete Big West All-Conference Teams
IRVINE, Calif. – Long Beach State's Kashauna Williams and Katie Kennedy were named to the Big West All-Conference First Team on Wednesday afternoon by the league office.
The honors come after the Beach concluded the 2021 season on a six-match winning streak thanks in part to the outstanding efforts by Williams and Kennedy.
Williams earned her second All-Big West First Team nod after earning the honors in 2019. She was also a 2018 Big West All-Freshman Team selection. This season, Williams led the Beach and the Big West all season long in kills per set with 4.04. She finished her junior campaign with a total of 452 kill en route to becoming the 17th player at Long Beach State to reach the 1,000 career-kill milestone. At the end of the season, Williams was ranked 11th all-time at the Beach with 1,181 career kills.
The product out of Los Angeles, Calif., led LBSU in kills 25 times this season with 27 double-digit kill performances, and six 20-plus kill showings. In addition, Williams also finished the year with 0.99 figs per set, 0.53 blocks per set, while hitting .240. She slammed a season-high 25 kills against Montana State (8/27), before logging a career-best 12 digs versus CSU Bakersfield (9/25), and posting a career-high seven blocks at UC Irvine (10/16).
Kennedy's grit, determination, and excellent play on the right side propelled her into the starting lineup as she went on to finish her sophomore season averaging 2.54 kills per set on a .257 attack percentage. The 2019 Big West All-Freshman Team honoree also contributed 0.69 digs per set and 0.46 blocks per set in her sophomore season.
The Hood River, Ore., native led Long Beach State in kills five times, with 13 double-figure performances. She also led the Beach in blocks three times. Kennedy recorded a career-high 16 kills on two separate occasions this season and hit a whopping .609 at CSU Bakersfield (10/29) as she knocked down 14 kills on 23 errorless swings. Additionally, she put up a season-high six blocks against Cal State Fullerton (9/28).
