Dirtbag alum, Evan Longoria and Jarren Duran, have reached the MLB postseason with the Giants and Red Sox, respectively.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Former Dirtbags Evan Longoria and Jarren Duran are set to compete in the MLB Postseason beginning this week. Longoria and his Giants clinched the NL West after a franchise record 107 win season while Durran and his Red Sox earned the top Wild Card spot with a victory in game 162.
In his fourteenth season in the bigs, Longoria was having an MVP-caliber season before missing significant time due to injury. However, the third baseman bounced back and finished his 2021 campaign with a .261/.351/.482 slash line and launching 13 home runs and collecting 46 RBI.
This will be the his fourth appearance in the postseason with the last coming in 2013 as a member of the Tampa Bay Rays. His deepest run was in the 2008 season when he led Tampa to the World Series.
Duran has spent just two and a half months as a member of the Red Sox in his debut season after being called up in mid-July. In that time, he posted a .578 OPS with three doubles, two triples, and two home runs. Of his 33 games, he served as the starting centerfielder in 25 of them posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in 48 chances.
Serving as the Red Sox fourth outfielder, he will be looking to make his postseason debut tonight in the AL Wild Card game against the Yankees.
The MLB Postseason begins tonight with the Red Sox-Yankees Wild Card matchup live on ESPN at 5:00 p.m. PT.
