Silano Earns Big West Offensive Player of the Week

Junior forward Lena Silano has received the first conference weekly honor of her career.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Lena Silano has been named the Big West Offensive Player of the Week after her two-goal performance on Sunday at Cal State Fullerton. The conference announced the news on Monday afternoon.
The Aguora Hills native is the first Beach recipient of the award since Ashley Gonzales on October 5, 2015.
After a quiet game at UC Riverside, Silano recorded her third multi-goal effort of the season, netting both goals of the 2-1 win over the Titans.
Her first goal came in the 56th minute from the top of the box and her second served as the game-winner in the 89th minute off a beautiful set piece with Daria Petredes and Kaylee Ramirez.
With the two goals, Silano now has nine for the season which is three more than the next closest goal scorer in the Big West. She also owns a league leading 20 points, four game-winning goals, and 24 shots on goal.
The junior forward has also officially entered the Long Beach State single-season record books ranking tied for fifth-most game-winning goals and tied for ninth-most goals. Her three multi-goal scoring games are second most in a single-season and tied for third most in a career.
As a team, the Beach has received now has four total weekly honors marking the most for the program since the 2015 season.
