The run raised over $15,000 for student-athlete scholarships.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Long Beach State community was able to come together in a unique way in these unprecedented times with the first Beach Athletic Fund Virtual Fun Run. Thanks to LB Nation, the run raised money for student-athlete scholarships and provided a unique opportunity to reengage in athletics together.
"I am very grateful for the support of LB Nation and all who participated in our 5K Virtual Fun Run," noted Director of Athletics Andy Fee. "By taking part in this brand-new event, you are providing opportunities for our student-athletes to continue to develop as leaders and champions here at Long Beach State."
Thanks to the support of LB Nation, the run raised over $15,000, enough to support one full-year scholarship at the Beach. The Virtual Fun Run had 275 participants and ranged from Long Beach to 15 states throughout the nation and beyond to Sweden and Japan.
The run also helped boost the number of members of the Beach Athletic Fund for the 2020-21 season, increasing the total to just shy of 400. The Drive to 4900 is just getting started however, and Long Beach State is looking for 1400 more members this year to help support athletics and our student-athletes at Long Beach State.
