Track And Field Commitments Conclude With A Pair Of Throws Transfers

Tanya Reyes and Anthony Flores will be joining the Beach as throwers.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Two throwers will transfer to the Beach for the upcoming season, bolstering the prospects of a traditionally strong group for Long Beach State with a pair of Southern California natives.
"Out Incoming class of throwers for the 2021 will make an immediate impact on our team depth," said throws coach Cory Loebl. "We anticipate solid conference-level performances and look for NCAA postseason qualifications from this group."
Anthony Flores – Senior; Oxnard, Calif. (Illinois College)

Anthony Flores returns to Southern California as graduate transfer after competing for three full seasons at Illinois College. He earned Division III All-American honors in indoor this past season in the weight throw, and was an All-Midwest Conference selection five times. The 2020 Illinois College Athlete of the Year, Flores set two school records during his time there in the hammer (180-09) and in the weight throw (59-03.5). He will be pursuing a Master's degree in Sports Management.
Tanya Reyes – Junior; Downey, Calif. (Cerritos College)

Tany Reyes comes to the Beach after two seasons just down the road at Cerritos College. During her time with the Falcons she was ranked No. 1 in the CCCAA in the hammer in 2020. While she redshirted during the 2019 seasons, she qualified for the state championship in both the discus and hammer throw in the freshman season of 2018. Previously Reyes set the school record at Warren High School in the discus, and finished in 7th place in the hammer throw at the 2017 USATF Junior Olympic National Championships. Reyes plans to major in American Studies.
