New High Of 78 Beach Student-Athletes Receive Academic All-Big West Honors Following Spring Semester

The conference announced its winter and spring recipients on Wednesday.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State had a new high of 78 student-athletes who were recognized on the winter and spring Big West Academic All-Conference teams, recognizing student-athletes across 11 sports sponsored by the Big West as announced by the conference office.
To be eligible for Academic All-Big West honors, student-athletes must have completed at least a full year academically at the institution, carry a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, and meet minimum competition requirements which varied from sport to sport due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Women's Track and Field had the most representatives, with 19 student-athletes garnering the honor in Alyssa Allen, Sydney Barnes, Sabrina Del Bello, Ryley Fick, Camille Finley, Anitha Graves, Lenaya Griffin, Azaria Hill, Bronsyn Ledgard, Erin McGuire, Erykah McNairy, Kelsie Newman, Samantha Perez, Naomi Peterson, Tiana Prince, Malia Talavou, Teresa Tamashiro, Amanda Truong and Julie Vargas. The men's side was also well represented by ten student-athletes in Derrick Affor, Faris Babineaux, Kent Harris, Michael Magula, Christian Mueller, Raymon Ornelas, Gabe Simpson, Jason Smith, Anthony Sommers and Charlie Vernoy.
Women's Water Polo also had double-digit honorees as Sarah Barker, Paige Bennett, Katie Dill, Olivia Grim, Orsi Hertzka, Ariana Honka, Katelyn Johnson, Gabriella Montefora-Adams, Eirini Patras and Isabel Riley were recognized.
Long Beach State's softball program also had a large number of honorees, as Ashley Coleman, Naomi Hernandez, Devyn Magnett, Sydney McCollum, Maddy Ruffin, Emily Salazar, Kellie White and Breezy Wise all met the requirements.
Other honorees including Bryce Kvick from Men's Golf, Maria Davis, Hannah Ko, Euna Pak, Hunter Pate and Holland Shourds from Women's Golf, and Emma Bardet, Lalita Devarakonda, Zara Lennon, Natalia Munoz, Wiktoria Rutkowska and Sadaf Sadeghvaziri from Women's Tennis.
The two-time defending national champions Men's Volleyball had six honorees in Simon Andersen, Grant Guinasso, Shane Holdaway, Matt Johnson, Ryan Poole and Carlos Rivera, while baseball rounded out the spring honorees with six selections as well in Tanner Carlson, Ethan Clough, Kaden Hogan, Cole Joy, Chase Luttrell and MLB Draft selection Adam Seminaris.
Aaryon Green, Lauren Green and Jasmine Hardy represented the Beach from women's basketball on the Winter Academic All-Conference Teams.
