LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Men's Basketball is excited to announce the commitment of two new players to join the program during the upcoming 2020-21 season in local high school product Jadon Jones and a former Division I player returning to California in Teddy Ochieng.
Both are extremely athletic players with high upside, a defensive mentality and have the ability to play multiple positions, a flexibility that should provide both the opportunity to contribute immediately.

The signing of Jones marks the second straight year that one of the top talents in the city will remain and join the Beach after leading St. Anthony High School to one of its most successful campaigns in school history.
Jones finished the season scoring 19 points per game while adding 6 rebounds and four assists per game. The team captain, Jones led the Saints to a Del Rey League Championship as well as a berth in the Southern Section Open Division and the CIF Division I championships. While the team was knocked out as the No. 2 seed, Jones scored 24 points to lead the team in the playoff defeat.
Coach Dan Monson on Jones:
"Jadon is a home grown product that is excited to represent his hometown. We love his versatility. He not only can play multiple positons, he also plays all three phases of the game. Offensively he can score in a variety of ways, defensively he can guard multiple positions, and he is a very good rebounder for a wing. Jadon is a great addition to our program."

Teddy Ochieng is an athletic forward who is reunited with Assistant Coach Bobby Braswell after the veteran coach previously recruited the versatile Ochieng, who initially signed with UTEP before ending up at CSUN during the 2018-19 season.
With the Matadors, Ochieng scored in double-figures against Loyola Marymount, but ultimately played in just four games at CSUN before an ankle injury shortened his first season of collegiate basketball. He then transferred to Panola CC in Texas, a school with a history of providing talent to the Beach as the home of x-factor and defender KJ Byers.
While at Panola, Ochieng averaged double-figures and nearly seven rebounds per game but again saw his minutes limited after an early season injury.
Coach Dan Monson on Ochieng:
"Teddy is another versatile player who can play inside or out. He gives us a forward with great size and length that can stretch the floor with his jump shot. Teddy is a great compliment to the players already in our program. He should make an immediate impact for us."
