Kinslow’s Double-Double Lifts LBSU to 52-49 Win Over Cal State Fullerton

Cydnee Kinslow grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds, while adding 10 points in LBSU’s victory
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State came out strong and picked up a crucial late-season victory over Cal State Fullerton, 52-49, on Wednesday night at the Walter Pyramid.
Cydnee Kinslow led the Beach (12-16, 7-8 Big West) with a career-high 14 rebounds to go along with 10 points as she registered her third double-double of the season. She was a major contributor in LBSU outrebounding Cal State Fullerton (16-12, 8-7) 38 boards to 25. Kinslow also added a pair of steals, and one assist in 38 minutes of action
Justina King led Long Beach State with 16 points, while adding four assists, one steal, and one block.
Long Beach State started off hot as the Beach connected on 7-of-13 field goals to shoot 53.8 percent from the field in the first quarter. With the offense firing away, LBSU outscored the Titans 21-15 in the opening 10 minutes. In that frame, Long Beach State took a 14-11 lead on a layup by Kristyna Jeskeova, who earned her first-career start, and never looked back. LBSU led the rest of the way as the Beach held a 30-25 advantage at halftime.
The Titans managed to cut the Beach's lead down to one (30-29) to start the third quarter, but Long Beach State used a 7-0 run to push their lead back up to eight (37-29). A jumper from Ma'Qhi Berry with 1:44 remaining in the third quarter, gave Long Beach State a 10-point advantage (41-31) before the frame ended with LBSU up, 44-35.
Cal State Fullerton was led by Taylor Turney's 19-point performance, while Raina Perez added 16 points. Carolyn Gill grabbed 11 boards, while Turney added four assists, and two steals.
Long Beach State will host UC Davis in the final regular-season game of the season on Saturday, March 7 at 4 p.m. Prior to the game, the Beach will recognize their three seniors in Aaryon Green, Cyndee Kinslow and Chloe Gaynor.
