The setter will be an incoming freshman at Long Beach State in the fall
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The 2020 VolleyballMag.com Girls Fab 50 rankings were announced last week by the publication and Long Beach State incoming freshman setter Mia Tuaniga was selected to the watch list.
Tuaniga, who will be an incoming freshman setter at Long Beach State in the fall, made headlines in January after being named the Gatorade Volleyball Player of the Year, was one of seven players tabbed to the Girls Fab 50 Watch List from the state of California.
A total of 17 players on the list earned top-five voting consideration. If unofficially expanded to a top 10, Tuaniga would be in a tie for sevenths along with Iman Ndiaye who has committed to UCLA.
Tuaniga is a 5-foot-9 setter out of Mater Dei High School where she compiled 721 assists, 256 digs, 205 kills, 54 blocks, and 41 service aces last season as she led the Monarchs to a 30-6 record en route to the Open Division semifinals and a No. 7 national ranking by PrepVolleyball.com.
A member of the U.S. Women's Junior National Team, Tuaniga was also the Orange County Player of the Year, a 2019-20 Under Armor First Team All-American, and a MaxPreps First Team All-American.
In addition to playing at Mater Dei High School, Tuaniga also excelled on the court with Apex1 Volleyball Club.
