The Beach gains two commitments for 2021-22 in the November signing period.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State stayed within the state during the most recent signing period, as head coach Dan Monson and his staff have announced the signings of AJ George and Corey Yerger following the early November signing period.

AJ George, 6-6, Fresno, Calif.
(Hoover HS)

AJ George Signee

A versatile athlete, AJ George played both football and basketball at Hoover High School, and the 6-6 wing player will provide an explosive spark for the Beach. As a junior, George led Hoover to the Central Section championship game and also helped the Patriots advance to the Division IV state tournament.

Coach Dan Monson on George:
"We are very excited to add AJ to our basketball family. He gives us a very versatile perimeter player who not only can play multiple positions, but can guard a variety of skill sets as well. He has a toughness to his game, and we feel will fit into our program and be a great addition."

Corey Yerger, 6-2, Sacramento, Calif.
(Grant HS)

Corey Yerger Signee

Corey Yerger is an accomplished point guard out of Sacramento. Named All-CIF and league MVP as a junior, Yerger put up big numbers while leading Grant High School to a Section Championship with 16 points in the final, and was poised to lead his team to a run at the state championship before COVID ended the season early. Yerger averaged 20 points and five rebounds per game while average four assists and 2.2 steals as a junior, improving on a sophomore season that saw the guard named all-league and all-metro for Sacramento.

Coach Dan Monson on Yerger:
"Corey gives us a young point guard to really build our future around. Our best teams have been successful with a lead point guard who can control the game at both ends, and we feel Corey can do that. We have had a long line of very good point guards and we are confident Corey can be the next one to make a big impact in our program."
