On December 1, Long Beach State Athletics raised $445,548 in one day thanks to our tremendous community.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – In the midst of trying times, the community that supports Long Beach State Athletics came together to once again support our student-athletes in representing this outstanding University with incredible generosity this Giving Tuesday.
Over the course of one day, Long Beach State was able to raise over $445,000 with the primary purposes of maintaining scholarships throughout the 2020-21 season regardless of competition status and allaying the costs of increased testing which may allow teams to return to competition sooner.
"We truly believe that Giving Tuesday is a day of celebration at Long Beach State," said Director of Athletics Andy Fee. "In addition to acknowledging the generosity of our alumni, parents and community, Giving Tuesday provides an opportunity to invite others to join in supporting our student-athletes and coaches as we navigate the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Giving Tuesday is also a great opportunity to increase the understanding of how much private support does to advance Beach Athletics. Many of our alumni hear about million dollar gifts to our university and think that their donations may not make a difference. But every gift matters and by joining the Beach Athletic Fund even at the minimum level helps secure a brighter future for Long Beach State. I want to express my gratitude to all those who participated in our success Tuesday. You are making a difference!"
Long Beach State had initially set a goal to raise $400,000 on Giving Tuesday, but the incredible generosity of LB Nation blew that number out of the water.
"When we set the goal to raise $400,000, we knew it was aggressive, but it was important to us to demonstrate our need to the community," said Camden Stockton, Associate Athletics Director. "We have amazing investors, fans and friends of athletics that stepped up and answered the call. Results like this are possible when we all pull together. This proves the future is bright at the Beach."
Opportunities to support student-athlete scholarships are still available. To become a member of the Beach Athletic Fund and take part in our success please join us at www.longbeachstate.com/donate.
