LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State had a total of 17 student-athletes recognized by the Big West Conference as All-Academic selections for the fall season and the first semester of the 2019-20 school year.
To be eligible for the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, complete one full academic year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received (at least a sophomore academically), and compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
Women's soccer led the way with seven student-athletes on the list in seniors Taylor Bistline, Kaitlin Fregulia, Katie Pingel, and Ayana Robles, along with juniors Kaylee Ramirez and Jada Thomas, as well as sophomore Angie Morales. Fregulia and Robles also earned All-Big West All-Conference honors.
Women's cross country boasted six all-academic selections as seniors Alyssa Allen and Julie Vargas led the way. Rounding out the group were junior Kelsie Newman and sophomores Sabrina Del Bello, Ryley Fick, and Tiana Prince. Allen, Prince and Fick all represented the Beach at the NCAA West Regional along with sophomore Raymon Ornelas who was the only all-academic selection from the men's side.
Lastly, women's volleyball had three student-athletes named to the all-academic team in seniors Hailey Harward and Kjersti Norveel, as well as sophomore Carly Hill. Harward finished her LBSU career as a two-time all-conference selection and ranked third all-time at the Beach with 1,602 career digs.
