Long Beach State Men’s Golf Tied for First After Two Rounds at Nick Watney Invitational

Senior Hunter Epson sits atop of the leaderboard heading into the final round
FRESNO, Calif. – After two rounds of action at the Nick Watney Invitational, Long Beach State is in a first-place tie with BYU as the Beach and Cougars are both shooting 14-under par. Senior Hunter Epson has led the way for the Beach shooting a 10-under par as he sits at the top of the leaderboard heading into the final round.
Long Beach State got off to a strong start as the Beach were in first place after the first round shooting 10-under par. In the first round, Epson got things started with an Eagle on the 10th hole and fired three birdies to finish the first round 3-under par and in a tie for third. The Beach was solid in the first round with all five players in the top 25 heading into the second round.
The Beach continued their steady play into the second round as Epson tallied seven birdies, three on consecutive holes (16, 17 and 18), en route to shooting 7-under par.
Sophomore Bryce Kvick turned in an excellent performance on the first day as well as he finished in a tie for eighth after shooting 4-under par with two Eagles. Kvick excelled at the ninth hole notching Eagles in both rounds.
Long Beach State looks to close out the Nick Watney Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
