LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State has announced the hiring of Erica Piurkowski to lead the school's NCAA compliance efforts as the Associate Athletics Director for Compliance.
""We are very excited to welcome Erica as Associate Athletics Director for Compliance," said Director of Athletics Andy Fee. "We believe she will be a great fit in her new role due to her professionalism, and experience in her previous roles in promoting a culture of compliance, reporting, and record keeping. Erica is approachable, respectful, and ethical. She is everything you want in a compliance administrator."
Piurkowski has an extensive background in collegiate compliance, and spent the last ten years with increasing responsibility in the UNLV Compliance Office. In her most recent role as Assistant Athletics Director of Compliance, Piurkowski was in charge or rules education, submission of waivers, and the supervision of other compliance staff in addition to other responsibilities.
That promotion was on the heels of two others following her initial hiring in Las Vegas in 2009. Following three years as a Compliance Assistant, Piurkowski was promoted to Assistant Director in 2012 before being named the Director of Compliance in 2013, a role she served until 2016.
After finishing her BA at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Piurkowski earned a Master's Degree at Sport Management at Western Illinois University, and entered compliance by working for the Summit League in 2008.
"I am absolutely thrilled and honored to have this opportunity," said Piurkowski. "I want to thank Ashlie Kite, Cindy Masner, Andy Fee and everyone else who was a part of the search committee. I am looking forward to working with the student-athletes and staff of the Beach. I am committed to abiding by the core values set forth by our University leadership and doing things the right way."
