Long Beach State Women’s Volleyball Adds Henderson, Waskom for 2019 Season

The Beach welcome the pair for the upcoming season
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State women's volleyball head coach Joy McKienzie-Fuerbringer announced the addition of a pair of underclassmen for the 2019 season in sophomore outside hitter Amanda Henderson and freshman libero Jade Waskom.
The duo join an already talented group of signees in Miranda Canez, Tia Chavira, Ioanna Georgatzi, Nicole Hoff, Katie Kennedy, and Avery Nelson.
Amanda Henderson
So. | OH | 5-10 | Fullerton, Calif. | Lakewood HS (Fullerton College)
Henderson comes to the Beach after playing at year at Fullerton College where she led the Orange Empire Conference in kills per set with 4.28 and ranked third in total kills with 287. The first team all-conference selection, who was also selected All-SoCal Region, finished her rookie season with 159 digs and 33 blocks. Prior to her time at Fullerton College, Henderson previously played at Lakewood High School where she was a First Team All-Moore League selection en route to helping the Lancers capture the Moore League Championship.
McKienzie-Fuerbringer on Henderson:
"Amanda is a solid six rotation player that will compete at the pin hitter position. She brings great ball control and a fighting spirit that pushes those around her to be better. We are looking forward to having her in our gym."
Jade Waskom
Fr. | L | 5-8 | Bend, Ore. | Summit HS
Waskom will begin her collegiate career in the fall after lettering at Summit High School for four years. The four-time All-League selection and three-time All-State tournament selection played both libero and outside hitter during her prep career. She is the reigning career leader in both digs and aces at Summit High School and set the record for most digs and aces in a single match. She helped her team with the 2015 Volleyball State Championship and led the squad back to the State Championships in 2018. Additionally, Waskom played club volleyball for NPJ 18 ForeFront and finished in the top 20 in the country in 2016 at 18 Open USAV Junior Nationals. Her club team went on to take third at the Colorado Crossroads 18 Open and won the 2017 Regional Championship before placing second at the 2018 Regional Championship.

"Jade is a fiery competitor and a great defender and passer. She will add to our team of defenders."
