The Long Beach State women’s track and field team earned NCAA All-Academic Team status for the 23rd consecutive season, while the men’s track and field program had three individuals earn All-Academic honors.
NEW ORLEANS – The US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the 2019 NCAA All-Academic recipients, and once again Long Beach State's track and field program has been recognized for its success in competition and in the classroom. The women's program was named an NCAA All-Academic Team for the 23rd consecutive season while three members of the men's program were All-Academic honorees as individuals.
Â
In order to achieve All-Academic status, a team must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Long Beach State women were one of just five Big West programs—men or women—to earn All-Academic Team honors, and have earned that distinction every year since 1997, the year the award began.
Â
On the men's team, senior Josh Carr, junior Kent Harris, and senior Nicholas Hudson were each recognized as All-Academic individuals. Carr picked up his third consecutive All-Academic nod in 2019 while Harris and Hudson are both two-time recipients after receiving All-Academic honors in 2018.
Â
In order for an individual to earn All-Academic status from the NCAA, they must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or better and meet competition standards, which for outdoor track & field include competing in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships.
