58 Beach Student-Athletes Honored As Academic All-Big West Following Spring Semester

11 different programs were represented on the 2019 Big West Academic All-Conference Honors.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State had 58 student-athletes across 11 programs receive Big West Academic All-Conference honors as announced by the conference office.
In order to be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, complete one full academic year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received (at least a sophomore academically), and meet competition eligibility requirements in sports sponsored by the Big West Conference.
Among the winter sports, Long Beach State had a pair of women's basketball players recognized, as Naomi Hunt and Bria Rice both met the requirements for the award.
Track and Field had 24 total student-athletes qualify. Faris Babineaux, Josh Carr, Ryan Coy, Kent Harris, Patrick Higgins, Nicholas Hudson, Tavi Kamarullah, Braeden Kraft, Michael Magula, Anthony Sommers, and Charlie Vernoy represented the men while the women's side featured Diana Acholonu, Alyssa Allen, Sydney Barnes, Mikayla Florez, Azaria Hill, Whitney Know, Erin McGuire, Erykah McNairy, Crystal Rodriguez, Delaney Smith, Teresa Tamashiro, Julie Vargas, and Melanee Williams.
For the diamond sports, Tierra Falo, Nichole Fry, Katelyn Hanson, Naomi Hernandez, Kasey Hutton, Lauren Lombardi, and Devyn Magnett earned All-Academic honors for softball while Laine Huffman, Adam Seminaris, John Sheaks and Brooks Stotler represented baseball.
The 2019 National Champion Men's Volleyball program had three players recognized in Nick Amado, Carlos Rivera and Simon Anderson, as did Beach Volleyball with Zoi Konstantopoulou, Alexis Patterson and Nicci Reinking.
Five different women's golfers received the honor in Cara Barker, Maria Davis, Euna Pak, Holland Shourds and Haley Tygret, while the men's squad was represented by senior Joe Fryer.
The young women's tennis squad had four players qualify in Carlota Casasampere, Lalita Devarakonda, Natalia Munoz and Sadaf Sadegvaziri, and Long Beach State's honorees were rounded out by Paige Bennett, Olivia Grim, Annabel Harman, Maria Mimidi and Isabel Riley of women's water polo.
