The Beach is excited to welcome in six non-conference opponents to the Walter Pyramid.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Beach Men's Basketball is excited to announce next season's schedule, featuring 14 home games and a number of marquee opponents in what should be a thrilling season. View the full schedule here!
"I'm excited about this preseason schedule," said head coach Dan Monson. "With so many new players next year, having six home games, equaling the most preseason home games in the last decade here, will give this inexperienced group an opportunity to grow. On the flip side, we will still be challenged on a national stage with a minimum of six BCS games. We will be road tested as usual."
For the second season in a row, Long Beach State will open the season at UCLA as the Beach and the Bruins match up in the first game for new UCLA head coach Mick Cronin on the first day of the season, Wednesday, November 6.
That weekend, Long Beach State will then host San Diego for Homecoming on Saturday, November 9 in what will be the toughest opponent for LBSU on Homecoming since the 2011-12 season. The Beach will then hit the road for three straight but stay on the West Coast, facing Stanford, St. Mary's and Seattle before returning to the Walter Pyramid to face Fresno Pacific.
Long Beach State will also participate in the Wooden Legacy for the first time since the 2014-15 season. After facing Arizona in a non-bracketed game, the Beach will head to Titan Gym for three games over Thanksgiving Weekend as a part of the annual tournament.
Returning home, Long Beach State will renew their series with former Big West foe Pacific on Saturday, December 6 before facing a fourth Pac-12 opponent on the road at USC on Sunday, December 15. The Beach will then host a pair of Division I opponents in Southern Utah and Utah Valley on December 19 and 21 before closing out the year with another marquee opponent, facing Florida on the road in Gainsville on Saturday, December 28.
Turning the calendar to the new year, the Beach will host CSU Los Angeles on Saturday January 4 before beginning the Big West Conference slate with a pair of road games. Games of note in league play include the conference home opener against UC Davis on January 16, the home Black and Blue Rivalry matchup with UC Irvine on Wednesday, January 22 as well as final home game of the regular season on March 5 against Cal Poly.
