SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – A day after No. 1 Long Beach State and No. 3 UC Santa Barbara battled it out at the Walter Pyramid in a five-set thriller, the Big West Conference foes played each other in another exciting match on Friday night at Rob Gym as the Beach came away with a 3-1 [29-31, 31-29, 25-14, 26-24] victory to win their 23rd straight match.
The Beach (19-0, 4-0 Big West) boasted four double-figure scorers and saw TJ DeFalco and Ethan Siegfried collect double-doubles en route to hitting .426 on the night. DeFalco led all scorers with 20 kills to go along with 11 digs, while adding three blocks, two assists and one service ace.
DeFalco's ace marked his 159th career service ace as he became Long Beach State's all-time aces leader, surpassing assistant coach Scott Touzinsky in the record book.

Coming off of a career-high 27-kill effort the night before, Kyle Ensing rattled off 13 kills to help the Beach offense. Sophomores Simon and Andersen and Ethan Siegfried added 10 kills each to contribute to LBSU's strong offensive performance.
Siegfried came off the bench and was superb as he notched his first career double-double with 10 digs to go along with his double-digit kill effort. He also served up a career-high four aces to account for half of the team's aces.
Long Beach State's offensive surge was paced by senior setter Josh Tuaniga who distributed 52 assists in the match. Tuangia also collected eight digs, three kills, two blocks, and one ace.
Nick Amado led the blocking defense with six blocks – one solo block and five block assists – as the Beach posted a total of 9.5 team blocks.
The match was back-and-forth throughout as the Beach and the Gauchos (15-5, 2-2 Big West) battled through a total of 39 tied and 12 lead changes. The opening set saw UCSB outhit LBSU .476 to .361 as the two teams fought through seven different set points, before UC Santa Barbara pulled out a 31-29 victory.
The second set was much like the first and just as exciting. The Beach and Gauchos were tied 17 times in the frame and again took the game to set points seven times. However, this time, Long Beach State emerged victorious as the Beach won after a kill from DeFalco and an attack error from the Gauchos as Long Beach State came away with a 31-29 win.
With the match tied at one set apiece, Long Beach State turned in its strongest performance of the match as the Beach hit .591 in the frame as they pounded out 13 kills on 22 swings without committing an error. Meanwhile, LBSU's defense forced UCSB into as many attack errors as it had kills for a .000 attack percentage as the Beach rolled to a 25-14 victory.
Long Beach State and UC Santa Barbara went back to exchanging points as the set saw 13 ties and seven lead changes. The Gauchos broke a 20-20 tie on a kill from Ryan Wilcox which led to a 4-0 run as the Beach found themselves trailing 24-21 as UCSB sent it to set point. But Long Beach State bounded back as DeFalco pounded out back-to-back kills to force a UCSB timeout. A pair of blocks from Amado, Ensing and DeFalco put the Beach up 25-24 and LBSU put the set and match away, 26-24, on a kill from Amado.
