Booker Earns First-Team All-Big West; Riggins, Alberts Also Honored

Long Beach State’s point guard earns first-team All-Big West for the sixth time in nine years.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Senior Deishuan Booker was named First-Team All-Big West, honoring a tremendous season from the point guard. Fellow seniors Mason Riggins and Bryan Alberts were also recognized by the coaches, earning honorable mention as announced by the conference office on Monday.
Deishuan Booker led the way for Long Beach State in 2018-19 on the way to becoming the third point guard to earn first-team All-Big West honors under Dan Monson, marking the sixth time in the last nine seasons.
In conference play, Booker led Long Beach State with 23.3 points per game, second in the Big West, while 4.3 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game. He shot 35.8 percent from three and was an incredible 153-of-165 from the free throw line, shooting 92.7 percent to lead the conference in both makes and percentage.
The nation's leader in free throws made, Booker enters the Big West Tournament having made 46 consecutive free throws.
Bryan Alberts was second on the team in scoring in league play, averaging 10.1 points per game. He made a team-high 29 3-pointers in conference and scored in double-figures seven times.
Mason Riggins continued to improve throughout the season and was a force inside for Long Beach State in conference play. Averaging 29.5 minutes per game, Riggins was third on the team in scoring during league action with 9.2 points per game, and averaged 5.9 rebounds per game. Riggins scored a career-high 18 points at Hawai'i, and had a double-double on the road at UC Davis.
It marked the first time for all three players earning All-Big West honors. Long Beach State opens up the Big West Tournament on Thursday night against Hawai'i in the quarterfinals.
