LBSU Women’s Volleyball to Host the National Invitational Volleyball Championship

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State earned an automatic berth to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC) marking the first time the Beach have made the postseason under head coach Joy McKienzie-Fuerbringer. The Beach will be hosting Rounds 1 and 2 of the NIVC on Wednesday, Dec. 4 and Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Walter Pyramid.
The Beach concluded the regular-season with a 12-16 overall record and finished fourth in the Big West Conference with a 9-7 league mark to make the postseason for the first time since 2014. LBSU boasted four Big West All-Conference selections in Hailey Harward, YiZhi Xue, and Kashauna Williams who were first team honorees, as well as Katie Kennedy who was named to the All-Freshman Team.
The first game of the tournament in Long Beach will feature Big West Conference foe UC Davis and Tulsa at 5 p.m. on Dec. 4, followed by LBSU and Santa Clara at 7 p.m. The winners of the two Round 1 matches will face each other on Thursday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Walter Pyramid.
Tournament session tickets will go on sale on Monday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. with reserved tickets on sale for $20, courtside seats $35, and general admission tickets $15 for both days. Single day tickets for the NIVC Tournament will go on sale Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. Single day general admission tickets will be $9, with reserved tickets on sale for $11, and courtside seats on sale for $20. The NIVC consists of 32 Division I women's volleyball teams. Long Beach State is one of eight teams hosting Rounds 1 and 2 in 4-5 team pods. Single matches will take place in Rounds 3-5.
The single-elimination tournament will begin with Rounds 1 and 2, while Round 3 will occur Dec. 9-12. The semifinals will be played Dec. 13-15, with the championship match set for Tuesday, Dec. 17.
