IRVINE, Calif. – The Big West Conference announced its 2019 All-Big West Women's Soccer award winners on Wednesday, and Long Beach State had four players pick up All-Conference recognition. Sophomore forward Elysia Laramie led the way for the Beach as a First Team honoree after scoring five of her six goals during conference play.
Joining Laramie as All-Big West selections are redshirt juniors Kaitlin Fregulia and Ayana Robles, who were each Second Team honorees. Freshman midfielder Aleea Caceres was named to the All-Freshman team following her debut season at the Beach.
Laramie was third in the Big West with five goals during conference action, including a game-winning brace in the conference opener at Cal Poly. She was second in the Big West with 31 shots during Big West play, including a career-high eight attempts in the season finale against Hawai'i. Laramie added to her scoring tally in that 1-1 tie, converting a penalty kick in the 42nd minute. She has now scored eight goals and has 18 points combined in her first two seasons at the Beach.
Laramie was an All-Freshman selection last season and was also a Preseason All-Big West selection prior to the 2019 campaign. She also showed off her versatility this season, playing several matches as a defender before switching to forward for most of her minutes during Big West action.
On the second team, Kaitlin Fregulia picks up her third All-Conference nod in her third season on the field for the Beach. The veteran center back was an All-Freshman and Honorable Mention All-Big West selection in 2016, was the conference's Defensive Player of the Year in 2017, and recovered from her knee injury to re-emerge as a key contributor for Long Beach State in 2019. She played in all 17 games for LBSU this season, making 16 starts and playing the full 90 minutes 11 times this year. Fregulia collected assists against Cal Poly and Cal State Fullerton and scored the go-ahead goal at UC Irvine on Oct. 27.
Robles also came off a redshirt season and was a valuable contributor for Long Beach State this season. She made 15 starts and played in 16 games for the Beach as an outside back and in several midfield roles. Robles played every minute for the Beach over the final nine matches of the season. Her season-high in shots came against Cal State Fullerton when she had three attempts. Her shot off the crossbar in the 89th minute against UC Davis on Oct. 18 nearly gave the Beach a dramatic late equalizer against the Aggies.
In her debut season, Caceres appeared in all 17 games and made 13 starts in the midfield. She earned her first career start against Penn State on Aug. 30, when she scored her first career goal against the No. 5-ranked Nittany Lions. Caceres played 1,128 minutes this season to finish eighth on the team.
