Long Beach State Women's Hoops Travels to Cal Classic
The Long Beach State women's basketball team will travel north to Berkeley, Calif., to take part in the Cal Classic. The Beach open the tournament against Penn State on Friday, Nov. 29 at 3:15 p.m. LBSU will then take on either North Carolina Central or Cal on Friday, Nov. 30.

About The Beach
• Long Beach State owns a 1-4 record and are looking to snap a three-game losing skid after dropping contests to UCLA (86-51), Utah State (56-48), and Loyola Marymount (70-57).
• The Beach are averaging 64.0 points per game as they have connected on 116-of-302 field goals for a field goal percentage of 38.4.
• As a team, Long Beach State is averaing 36.0 rebouds per game to go along with 12.4 assists per game, 10.6 steals per game, and 2.8 blocks per game.
• LBSU has two players who are averaging double-figures this season. Sophomore Justina King leads the team with 14.0 points per game, while junior Shanaijah Davison adds 13.5 points per game.
• Cydnee Kinslow had a big game on Monday against Utah State as she notched a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. She is the squad's leading rebounder with 8.8 boards per game, while contributing 7.4 points per game.
• Kinslow is tied for the team lead with redshirt sophomore Ma'Qhi Berry as the pair have led the defensive effort with 10 steals each. Right behind them is King with nine swipes thus far.
• In addition to leading the squad in scoring, King is also the Beach's leader in assists with 19 to average 3.8 assists per game to rank fifth in the Big West.
• Lauren Green is the team's leader in blocks as the sophomore forward has put up five on the year so far, while Kinslow is right behind her with four and Jasmine Hardy has contributed three.
• Long Beach State has officially changed the nickname for all sports other than baseball to Beach with the NCAA. Please do not refer to LBSU basketball as the 49ers.
Scouting Penn State
Penn State comes into the Cal Classic with a record of 3-3. The Nittany Lions are coming off of a 78-68 loss against George Mason over the weekend.
The Nittany Lions are shooting 38.2 percent from the field to average 69.7 points per game, while allowing 67.7 points per game. Penn State is averaging 41.2 rebounds per game, while adding 10.7 assists per game, 9.7 steals per game, and 3.2 blocks per game.
Kamaria McDaniel leads a trio of double-figure scorers with 16.7 points per game as she sets the offensive pace for Siyeh Frazier (13.2 ppg) and Lauren Ebo (10.0 ppg). Frazier and Ebo lead the team in rebounding with 7.3 boards a piece. Frazier also leads the squad with 21 steals. McDaniel, meanwhile, has posted eight blocks to lead the Nittany Lions.
Makenna Marisa has dished out a team-best 21 assists, while she also averages 9.8 points per game and 3.3 rebounds per game.

Scouting North Carolina Central
North Carolina Central brings a 1-3 record to the West Coast and is coming off of a 78-58 loss to High Point. The Eagles' lone win of the season came last week as they edged Campbell, 67-64.
As a team, the Eagles are shooting 37 percent from the field and averaging 62.3 points per game, while allowing 70.8 points per game.
NC Central has three double-figure scorers in Kieche White (15.0 ppg), Paulina Afriyie (12.3 ppg), and Anissa Rivera (11.3 ppg) to lead the offense. Rivera also leads the squad in rebounding with 11.3 boards per game, while adding a team-best 12 blocks and 11 steals.
The Series: The Beach vs. The Eagles
Should Long Beach State and NC Central play each other on Saturday, it will be just the second time in program history. The two teams last faced each other in 2010 and LBSU emerged victorious, 78-61, at a tournament in Hawaii.

The hosts of the Cal Classic own a 3-2 record after having won their last three games against UC Riverside (84-61), San Diego State (74-48), and Arkansas (84-80).
The Bears boast three double-figure scorers led by Jaelyn Brown who averages 14.4 points per game. She leads Sara Anastasieska (11.0 ppg), and Alaysia Styles (10.0 ppg), while sharing the team-lead in rebounding with CJ West as the pair average 8.0 boards per game.
Leilani McIntosh is the squad's leader in assists with 18 and steals with 13, while also contributing 5.2 points per game.
The Series: The Beach vs. The Bears
Should Long Beach State and Cal play each other on Saturday, the contest will mark the 18th time in program history. The Beach leads the all-time series 11-6 over the Bears and defeated Cal, 58-56 in overtime, in the last meeting on Dec. 13, 2014.
Offensive Output
The Beach have a pair of players averaging double-figures. Additionally, in five games thus far, Long Beach State has already seen three different players turn in 20-point performances. Sophomore Justina King leads the Beach with 14.0 points per game after notching a pair of 20-point efforts. She most recently poured in a season-high 23 points against LMU. Second on the squad in scoring is junior Shanaijah Davison who is averaging 13.5 points per game in four games played. She, along with redshirt sophomore Ma'Qhi Berry, have each registerd a 20-point performance for LBSU this season.
Cleaning up the Glass
Senior forward Cydnee Kinslow is leading the rebounding charge for Long Beach State. She has grabbed double-digit boards in three of the Beach's five games so far to average 8.8 rebounds per game. The Oakley, Calif., native has done a solid job cleaning up the glass as she collected 11 rebounds at California Baptist in the season opener, then turned around and registered 11 boards at No. 11 UCLA. She set a new career-high with 12 rebounds against Utah State on Monday en route to a double-double as she added 13 points.

The 2018-19 Big West Conference Freshman of the Year, Justina King, has picked up right where she left off. The sophomore guard, who led the Beach in assists a year ago (107), has dished out 19 assists this season to set the pace for LBSU. Additionally, she adds a team-leading 14.0 points per game to go along with 2.4 rebounds per game, and nine steals in just five games so far.

Following the Cal Classic, Long Beach State will continue its road swing as the Beach will travel back up north to play at Santa Clara on Friday, Dec. 6 at 5 p.m., before taking on Seattle University on Sunday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. The next home game for LBSU is set for Saturday, Dec. 14 when the Beach host No. 1 Oregon at the Walter Pyramid at 1 p.m.
