The pair will have an immediate impact with the program in the fall of 2020.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Head Coach Joey Cerulle has announced that Angelina Kim and Sherilyn Villanueva have announced their commitment to join the Long Beach State women's golf program starting in the 2020-21 season.
"Our 2020 class is one of the strongest we have ever compiled," said Cerulle. "Our team's success over the last two years has led to an influx in high-level talent looking to attend and be a part of what we are building at Long Beach State. Both of these freshmen have competed with the best of the best, and have proved that they will be a big part of continuing a championship program."

Angelina Kim is a highly decorated junior golfer who will have an immediate impact with the program. She had a spectacular 2015, finishing as the Toyota Tour Cup Player of the Year after winning the Mary Cave Cup and the AJGA Championship at Morongo. She then highlighted the year as the SoCal Junior Amateur Championship.
A five-time LA County junior champion, Kim has continued to find success, winning the SoCal Regional Championship and twice winning the CIF City Section championship while competing for Fairfax High School.
"Her resume speaks for herself on how good she is," said Cerulle. "She is a talent that many schools were looking at, but her personality and commitment to family made her the perfect fit here at the Beach. She knows how to compete and win which has allowed her the opportunity to play a tour event and gain valuable experience on what it will take to reach the next level. Angelina will be a big presence for us!"

Competing for Troy High School, Sherilyn Villanueva has been a part of a high-achieving program and will bring a winning mentality to the Beach. As an individual, Villanueva was the California state runner-up as a senior, and led the Trojans to a team runner-up finish after winning the CIF state championship in 2018. Additionally, Villanueva is also an accomplished junior golfer who was named the 2016 SCPGA junior player of the year and who won seven individual junior championships.
"She is one of the toughest players we have ever seen compete," said Cerulle. "She has been a huge part of a successful program and knows how to make a team better. Her hard work paid off this year, and we know she will continue to improve. Championships are in her DNA, and she looks to continue to bring those to the Beach in her tenure here."
The two-time defending Big West Champions, Long Beach State women's golf returns to action in late January.
