Long Beach State Men’s Volleyball Reveals 2020 Schedule

Back-to-back NCAA National Champions kick off the 2020 season on January 9

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The back-to-back NCAA National Championship Long Beach State men's volleyball team announced the 2020 schedule on Friday afternoon which pits the Beach up against eight nationally ranked teams, three of the top five, and three 2019 NCAA Final Four squads.
LBSU will host eight home contests at the Walter Pyramid this season including No. 3 Pepperdine, No. 5 USC, and No. 7 UCLA. The Beach will take part in three tournaments as they open the season at the UC Santa Barbara Asics Invitational where Long Beach State will play Benedictine in the season opener on Jan. 9, followed by McKendree (Jan. 10) and No. 14 Concordia (Jan. 11).
The season-opening tournament will come on the heels of an exhibition tournament in Toronto, Canada. Long Beach State is participating in the CanAm Tournament from Dec. 28 – Dec. 31. The Beach will take on Trinity Western on Dec. 28, before facing Alberta on Dec. 30, and McMaster on Dec. 31.
Long Beach State's home opener is set for Friday, Jan. 17 against No. 5 USC at 7 p.m. The Beach will then host No. 3 Pepperdine on Saturday, Jan. 25, followed by No. 7 UCLA on Saturday, Feb. 1.
The Beach will travel to Columbus, Ohio for the Ohio State Tournament on Feb. 7 and 8 where LBSU will go up against Penn State on Friday and Ohio State on Saturday. LBSU's road swing brings the Beach back to southern California where they will face No. 7 UCLA at Pauley Pavilion on Saturday, Feb. 29.
Lindenwood University travels to the Walter Pyramid to meet the Beach on Friday, March 6, before Long Beach State opens Big West Conference action in a home-and-home series against No. 6 UC Santa Barbara. The Beach and the Gauchos will meet in Santa Barbara on Thursday, March 12, before battling out in Long Beach on Friday, March 13.
Long Beach State heads to Fairfax, Va., for its final non-conference tournament of the 2020 season. The Beach will go up against Charleston on Friday, March 20, before facing George Mason on Saturday, March 21.
When the Beach return from their east coast trip, they will be fully immersed in Big West Conference action playing No. 8 UC Irvine at the Pyramid on Friday, March 27, before taking on the Anteaters at the Bren Center on Saturday, March 28.
In a rematch of the 2019 National Championship match, Long Beach State will take on No. 2 Hawaii on April 3 and 4, but this time the Rainbow Warriors will have the home court advantage hosting the Beach at the Stan Sheriff Center for a pair of matches.
The Beach return to California to face UC San Diego on April 10 in San Diego, before hosting the Tritons in Long Beach on April 11 in the penultimate regular-season series.
Long Beach State wraps up the regular-season against No. 12 CSUN on Friday, April 17 in Northridge, and on Saturday, April 18 at the Walter Pyramid, before heading to Irvine, Calif., for the Big West Tournament which runs from April 24-26.
The NCAA Final Four, which is hosted by George Mason in Fairfax, Va., will be played on Thursday, May 7, while the NCAA National Championship match will take place on Saturday, May 9.
