The goal of the campaign is to increase BAF membership to 4,900 members by 2025.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Athletics has officially launched the Beach Athletic Fund "Drive To 49" during Homecoming festivities earlier this month. The purpose of the "Drive to 49" is to increase Beach Athletic Fund (BAF) membership to 4,900 members by 2025 in order to fund championship-level student-athlete scholarship levels. In reaching this goal, the growth would put Long Beach State at the top of the Big West and among the highest regionally in active fundraising support in collegiate athletics.
"We are calling on the Beach Family to invest in our student-athletes by becoming one of the 4,900 in the Beach Athletic Fund," said Andy Fee, Director of Athletics. "Through BAF membership support, our coaches will be able to offer championship-level scholarships to provide the best possible experience for our student-athletes on and off the field of competition."
By reaching 4,900 members strong in the Beach Athletic Fund, Long Beach State will be able to fully fund the NCAA maximums of scholarships for student-athletes. However, with the current 1,086 members of the BAF, a gap exists between number of scholarships offered and the maximum possible allowed by the NCAA. The "Drive to 49" is designed to eliminate this annual scholarship shortfall.
To increase membership to 4,900 by 2025, the Beach Athletic Fund has developed a "Drive to 49" campaign video (LINK) and redesigned its website: BeachAthleticFund.com. The website now includes information on tickets, parking, hospitality menus and dates, as well as an enhanced online giving portal to make investment in LBSU student-athletes as easy as possible.
Long Beach State Athletics invites you to become one of the 4,900 by investing in Beach student-athletes through tax-deductible gifts of $49 or more annually through the BAF. LBSU alumni and friends can "Invest in Leaders and Champions" today by:
