No. 8 Long Beach State Drops Home Opener To No. 1 Stanford, 11-5

Matt Morris and Garrett Zaan scored two goals each for the Beach.
LONG BEACH, Calif.—No. 8 Long Beach State put up a good fight in front of a solid crowd in the team's home opener at the Ken Lindgren Aquatics Center, but fell 11-5 to No. 1 Stanford.
Stanford (13-1) took an early lead over the Beach, scoring three goals in the first quarter to get the edge.
Long Beach State (10-8) outscored the Cardinal 4-3 in the second quarter, pulling within two goals entering the second half. Stanford's defense held strong in the second half, only allowing one goal for the Beach.
Junior Quinten Osborne and Sophomore Matt Morris each had two goals for the Beach and Sophomore Garrett Zaan contributed one goal.
