The annual event will move to the fall in order to accommodate Long Beach State hosting the 2019 Men’s Volleyball National Championship.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State Athletics has announced that Jewels of the Night, the annual fundraising event benefitting student-athlete scholarships will be moved from its traditional early May date to September 14, 2019.
2019 marks the 25th year for Jewels of the Night, which is Long Beach State's largest fundraising event. Featuring local restaurants, live music and exciting auction items all proceeds benefit the student-athletes of Long Beach State.
The event has traditionally been held in the Walter Pyramid at or around the first weekend of May, but Long Beach State is proud to be hosting the 2019 NCAA Men's Volleyball National Championship where Alan Knipe's squad will try to become the first repeat national champions in school history.
The ramifications and logistics of holding two major events in the Walter Pyramid in that close of space has led the department to choose to move the date for Jewels of the Night into the fall.
"We are very excited to celebrate the silver anniversary of Jewels of the Night," said Director of Athleics Andy Fee. "While the date has changed, we remain committed to a first class event that provides opportunities for student-athletes to achieve their dreams in the classroom and field of competition. We encourage our community to come out and support scholarship funding which changes the lives of so many."
More updates regarding Jewels of the Night will be forthcoming in the ensuing months.
