Allison Martinez Named Big West Conference Freshman Player of the Week

Martinez finished the week with 18 kills and five blocks while hitting .577
LONG BEACH – Allison Martinez was named Big West Conference Freshman Player of the Week after she helped lead Long Beach State to a pair of wins last week at the LBSU Mizuno Invitational.
Martinez finished the week with 18 kills, five blocks and three digs, while hitting a sizzling .577 (18-3-26). She had a breakout performance against Fresno State as she hit an impressive .733 after knocking down 12 kills on 15 swings while committing just one attack error.
The 6-foot outside hitter from Montebello, Calif., helped the Beach close out the preseason with back-to-back victories as they head into Big West Conference action with an 8-5 mark.
On the year, Martinez is hitting .370 which ranks her second in the league.
