Long Beach State welcomes former UNLV golfer Mackenzie Raim as the new assistant coach for the women’s golf program.
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- Long Beach State women's golf coach Joey Cerulle has announced the hiring of Mackenzie Raim as the new assistant coach at the Beach. Raim comes to Long Beach State after an accomplished playing career at UNLV, where she was the 2018 Mountain West Conference Championship runner-up and helped the Rebels to three straight Mountain West team titles.
"I'm extremely excited to have Mackenzie here at Long Beach State," Cerulle said of his new assistant coach. "I recruited her, so we've known her for a long time. She's extremely trustworthy, extremely hard-working and I'm excited that she's going to be starting her coaching career with us."
Raim is a native of Palm Desert, Calif. and had a terrific four-year career at UNLV. She was a two-time First Team All-Mountain West selection with the Rebels and ranked among the program's all-time leaders in rounds at par or better and career scoring average.
"I would like to thank Coach Cerulle and the Long Beach State Athletic Department for giving me this opportunity," Raim said. "I am looking forward to this new chapter and I cannot wait until season starts."
Raim was the runner-up at the 2018 Mountain West Tournament Championship as a senior, shooting a 2-under 214 for the tournament to finish just one shot back of the winner. She won three individual titles during her collegiate playing career, and was a two-time All-Mountain West Academic Team selection.
The Long Beach State women's golf team will begin its 2018-19 season Sept. 17-19 in Fort Collins, Colo. at the Ptarmigan Ram Classic.
