2018 LBSU Women's Volleyball Schedule 
LONG BEACH, Calif. - Long Beach State women's volleyball coach Joy McKienzie-Fuerbringer has announced the upcoming schedule for the 2018 indoor season. Entering her second season as head coach of the Beach, McKienzie-Fuerbringer has assembled another competitive, national schedule for Long Beach State women's volleyball.
The Beach will play three out-of-state tournaments in the preseason, with trips to Oregon and Maryland, while also hosting the annual Mizuno Invitational at Walter Pyramid. The 2018 season opens in the same place the 2016 campaign did, with a tournament at Portland State Aug. 24-25. LBSU will face the host Vikings first, followed by a neutral site meeting with Boise State in the second game of the season.
Long Beach State's home opener is set for Tuesday, Aug. 28 against Seattle, which is the first of three midweek contests at Walter Pyramid. The Beach will also host Texas Tech on Labor Day, Monday Sep. 3 at 11 a.m. before welcoming UCLA to Long Beach for the Baden Showcase on Thursday, Sep. 13 at 7 p.m.
LBSU will also head to the University of Oregon for a three-game tournament Aug. 31-Sep. 1. The first game of the Oregon Classic will be against the host Ducks, with the second game coming against Utah Valley. In its final preseason road trip, Long Beach State will head to the East Coast to visit Towson for the TU Invite. As part of that tournament, LBSU will also play a neutral site match against Princeton, setting up Long Beach State's first ever meeting against each school.
The Mizuno Invitational is set for Sep. 14-15, with Long Beach State hosting matches against Lamar and Fresno State at 7 p.m. on consecutive nights. The Saturday match will be feature a special celebration of three of Long Beach State's national championship teams as the 1973 AIAW National Champions will be celebrating their 45th Anniversary, and the 1993 and 1998 NCAA National Champions will be celebrating their 25th and 20th Anniversaries, respectively.
Big West Conference play starts on Tuesday, Sep. 18 with a home match against UC Riverside, with some marquee conference home games coming later in the schedule as LBSU hosts Cal Poly on Saturday, Oct. 20 and Hawai'i on Saturday, Nov. 3. The Beach will close the regular season at home on Saturday, Nov. 17 against CSUN. All conference home matches are scheduled for a 7 p.m. first serve.
