Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State's annual Beach Athletic Club Membership Challenge has come to a close, resulting in nearly 100 new Beach Athletic Club Members.
"I would like to thank all of our participants that volunteered to be a part of our membership challenge this year," said Justin Maclin, Beach Athletic Club Director. "Your efforts helped us reach our goal, which will help us support student-athlete scholarships, capital projects, and everything else that we need to continue to make this program successful."
Eight teams were formed to compete over a six-week period to recruit new members into the Beach Athletic Club, considered any donor who makes a gift of $100 or more. The $15,000 raised by the Beach Athletic Club supports Long Beach State's twin pursuits of winning championships and graduating student-athletes.
Corey Loebl was the captain for Track and Field, and raised the most money overall, winning the challenge once again, while that group tied with baseball and co-captains Don Barbara and Steve Louis for the most new members, as each team recruited 17 new members each.
The Beach Athletic Club is the supporter's group for all 19 sports programs at Long Beach State. The BAC works with each head coach to raise money to support his or her team operating budgets, upgrade and enhance facilities, and secure legacy gifts in support of endowments. The BAC is the first point of access for all stakeholders seeking access to the program, whether it is to purchase a ticket, game day parking, or join a team for a donor trip.
