LONG BEACH – Tyler Spriggs and Megan Kruidhof led the Long Beach State women's volleyball team in a dominating 3-0 [25-19, 25-14, 25-13] sweep over CSUN on Saturday night inside the Walter Pyramid. The pair, along with Emma Kirst and Gigi Alex, were honored in a Senior Night ceremony prior to the start of the match.
The Beach closed out the regular season with a 16-13 overall record and wrap up Big West Conference action with an 8-8 mark. Meanwhile the Matadors drop to 8-20 on the year and 4-12 in league play.
Long Beach State dominated the match from the start as the Beach hit an impressive .362 in the contest. In addition to the offense's strong showing, the LBSU defense was also on point as the Beach posted 10.0 total team blocks and 53 digs.
Spriggs led the offensive attack with 18 kills, while hitting a career-high .515 (18-1-33). She added 12 digs for a double-double, and also contributed two assists and one block assist in the match. Kruidhof tallied a new season-high with 11 kills in the contest, while chipping in seven digs and tying her career-high with four total blocks.
Junior YiZhi Xue led the Beach with a .538 attack percentage as she knocked down seven kills on 13 swings without committing an error. She also led the team with five total blocks at the net. Joining Xue with solid blocking defense was Kirst who put up three blocks for the Beach. Kirst finished the game with a pair of aces, three kills and as many digs.
Freshman Carly Aigner-Swesey did a solid job pacing the offense as she distributed 42 assists, while adding four digs, two blocks, one kill and a service ace.
Defensively, junior Hailey Harward passed the ball well racking up 15 digs in the back row.
Long Beach State opened the match on a 7-1 run forcing an early CSUN timeout. The Beach would lead throughout the first set and go on to earn a 25-19 victory.
The Beach continued their dominance into the second and third sets, never allowing the Matadors to score more than 19 points in a single set. Long Beach State hit a sizzling .536 (17-2-28) in the second frame and cruised to a 25-14 win.
Leading two sets to none, the Beach did not slow down in the third set. Long Beach State hit .429 in the third and limited CSUN to just 13 points in the frame. The Beach would complete the sweep with a 12-point victory over the Matadors.

Long Beach State held the lead over CSUN in every statistical category as the Beach led in kills (49-26), assists (46-25), aces (4-1), digs (53-37), and total team blocks (10.0 – 4.0).
