Spriggs, Harward Named Big West Player and Defensive Player of the Week

The duo led the Beach to a pair of road victories last week
LONG BEACH – Long Beach State saw two players pick up Big West Conference recognition as senior Tyler Spriggs was named Player of the Week and junior Hailey Harward earned Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Spriggs picked up her first conference weekly award as she led the Beach's offense last week. The 6-foot-1 outside hitter posted back-to-back 21-kill performances in consecutive four-set road wins over UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton. She hit .400 on the week with 42 kills on 95 swings, while committing just four errors. Additionally, Spriggs contributed 18 digs and seven blocks.
The native of Los Angeles, Calif., averaged 5.25 kills per set and 2.25 digs per set last week. Spriggs collected eight digs against the Highlanders, then notched her fifth double-double of the season with 10 digs against the Titans.
Harward collected her fourth career Defensive Player of the Week award and first of the 2018 season as she led the Long Beach State defense with a pair of 20-dig efforts. She averaged 6.13 digs per set as she tallied 23 digs against UCR, then came back and registered a season-high 26 digs at Cal State Fullerton.
The product out of Phoenix, Ariz., finished the week with 49 digs, while adding four aces and nine assists.
