Andrew Sato Named MPSF/Molten Player of the Week

LONG BEACH – Long Beach State senior libero Andrew Sato collected his first-ever MPSF/Molten Player of the Week honors it was announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Sato earned the weekly award after setting a new LBSU school record with 893 career digs following two double-figure dig efforts last week. He is the first libero in over two years to earn an MPSF weekly award.
Last week, Sato totaled 20 digs in MPSF wins over No. 6 UC Irvine and UC San Diego. He paced the second-ranked Beach backrow with a pair of 10-dig efforts, averaging 2.86 per set. In addition to becoming the program's all-time digs leader, Sato also leads Long Beach State with the most double-digit dig performances (49) in program history.
Sato also added four assists on the week and helped the Beach limit their opponents to a .123 attack percentage (69-44-203) as LBSU extending its winning streak to 10 matches overall and 13 in conference action.
This season, Sato has tallied 168 digs for an average of 2.62 per set which leads the MPSF and is good for fifth in the country.
