INDUSTRY, Calif. - The Long Beach State men's golf team started the spring season on Monday at the Folino Invitational with a strong opening round at Industry Hills Golf Club.
Second round play was suspended due to darkness as the 10-team field will resume play on Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m.
LBSU recorded an even-288 to finish in second-place, three-shots behind tournament leading UC Santa Barbara at 3-under. CSUN is third at 5-over, followed by UC Irvine (+9) in fourth and UC Riverside (+13) in fifth.
Redshirt sophomore Joe Fryer led the way for the 49ers, firing a 3-under 69 to tie for first with the Gauchos' Willy Moffly. Fryer posted six birdies for the round on nine pars and three bogeys.
Senior Agostino Milazzo (-2) sits just one stroke behind tied for third followed by sophomore Patrick Pockels (+2) tied for 13th and freshman Hunter Reed (+3) tied for 22nd.
Sophomore Andres Gonzalez (+4) is tied for 29th.
Final round play concludes on Tuesday and will begin immediately following the second round.
