Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State and KBEACH are continuing to expand their existing partnership for sports broadcasting, and will increase sports coverage via live audio streaming to seven sports in 2016-17 as part of the Long Beach State Radio Network.
"In the last few years, sports broadcasting opportunities have increased immensely here at Long Beach State,” said KBEACH Faculty Advisor John Shrader. “This is another example of the overall campus commitment to give our students the best training and experience possible."
Long Beach State and KBEACH entered into a partnership two seasons ago for the school’s Men’s and Women’s Basketball broadcasts, moving the existing audio streams from www.longbeachstate.com onto the KBEACH platform, with students providing pregame and postgame content in addition to studio support. Additionally, the broadcasts moved to the KBEACH app, KBEACH.org and their HD Radio station in addition to being available online through the Long Beach State website.
Following up on that agreement, KBEACH and Long Beach State continued to broadcast all home and away contests for Men’s and Women’s Basketball, and added Dirtbags Baseball to the home and away lineup last season in 2016.
Entering 2016-17, that partnership will grow even more. Becoming Long Beach State’s official internet radio partner, KBEACH will now be the home for the same number of volleyball broadcasts as have been produced in the past, with all Women’s Volleyball games being available to stream, while Men’s Volleyball will have all home games broadcast live.
“Working with KBEACH has been a textbook example of a perfect relationship,” said Assistant Athletics Director Roger Kirk. “Encouraging the students of our University to get involved with radio production while also providing expanded avenues for our fanbase to listen to their favorite sports through KBEACH, the KBEACH app and our official website is a welcome opportunity.”
Student commentators will also get additional opportunities on the radio as KBEACH will be expanding home coverage to two new sports, as Women’s Soccer and Softball will both have a radio presence in the coming season.
“The partnership will allow for more positive outcomes from student media, meaning more students trained for sports broadcasting jobs after graduation,” noted ASI’s Student Media Coordinator, Danny Lemos.
Additionally, the Long Beach State Radio Network in partnership with KBEACH and Beach Sports Properties will soon be available via TuneIn Radio. Available at Tunein.com or via the TuneIn Radio app, fans will have yet another way to keep in touch with their favorite LBSU programs at their computers or through mobile devices.
