FIRST TEE
For the second consecutive year, Long Beach State senior Kassidy Teare will participate in the 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship as she received an at-large bid as the overall No. 1 individual seed at the Stanford Regional. Teare is among six individuals and 18 teams that will be competing at the par- 71, 6,269-yard Stanford Golf Course. The three-day, 54-hole regional begins on Thursday (May 5) with opening round action, followed by second round play on Friday (May 6) and the final 18 holes concluding on Satuday (May 7). All three days will have split tee times from 7:30-10:00 a.m. from the first and 10th tees.

The top six teams and three individuals (who are not members of the qualifying teams) from each regional, advances to the NCAA Championship that will be held at the Eugene Country Club, May 20-25, in Eugene, Oregon.

Out of 32 group of players, Teare will be in the sixth group that will have an 8:20 a.m. tee time from the first tee. She will be paired with Martine Edberg of Cal State Fullerton and Andrea Wong of UC Davis.

LAST YEAR'S REGIONAL
Teare will be looking to improve from her performance at last year's NCAA St. George Regional in St. George, Utah, where she tied for 41st among the 96 player field. Teare completed her stellar season at 16-over-par 229 after shooting rounds of 75, 78 and 76 at the par-71, 6,255-yard Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club.

TEARE NAMED BIG WEST GOLFER OF THE YEAR
Teare became the first LBSU player to garner Big West Women's Golf Player of the Year since 49er All-American Kay Hoey earned the distinction in 2007. The senior from Vista, Calif., paced the Big West during the regular season with a 72.1 stroke average. During the fall season, Teare captured individual medalist honors at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate and then followed that up with back-to-back second place finishes at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown and the All There August Challenge. At the Las Vegas Showdown, Teare shattered the program record for a three-day score (209) by nine strokes, carding a 16-under 200 on the 6,277-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club course, firing a 68 in the first round, followed by consecutive career-best rounds of 66. Over the course of the season Teare carded four top top-five finishes, which includes a second place finish at the 2016 Big West Conference Women's Golf Championship. Teare also added to her accomplishments, two Big West Golfer of the Month accolades for October and April.

Senior All-American candidate Kassidy Teare was named to Golfweek's Midseason All-Conference Team back on Jan. 19. Teare was among five players selected for the midseason honor as the Vista, Calif. native is currently ranked No. 64 in the Golfstat rankings. Teare begins the spring season as the top player for the 49ers, dominating the fall campaign with her first career tournament win at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in Highlands Ranch, Colo. and finished runner-up at the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. Teare is also coming off from a record 2014-15 season, as she was the only second women's golfer from LBSU to receive an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. Teare finished just one stroke behind first-place with a 54-hole score of 5-over 221 (74-73-74). LBSU placed fourth at 59-over 923 (308-314-301).

Senior Kassidy Teare was named Big West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for April as this was the last monthly award from the conference for 2015-16. This is Teare's third career monthly award from the Big West as she was honored last year for the months of February (co-golfer) and November. Teare was among five golfers nominated for the monthly honor as she was awarded for her performance at the Silverado Showdown in Napa as she finished in fifth-place among 92 players. The Vista, Calif. native posted a 54-hole score of an even-par 216 after shooting rounds of 71, 73 and 72 at the par-72, 6,206-yard Silverado Resort & Spa North Course. Teare closed out the regular-season with her fourth top-five performance this year at the Silverado Showdown. Ranked 49th in the latest Golfstat rankings and the highest ranked player in the Big West, Teare finished of six players ranked in Golfstat's top-50, including No. 9 Emma Henrikson of San Diego State, No. 13 Hannah Suh of California and No. 26 Mariah Stackouse of Stanford.

LBSU finished in 12th place at the 18-team Briar's Creek Invitational at The Golf Club at Briar's Creek in Johns Island, S.C. The 49ers turned in a three-round score of 24-over 888 after posting rounds of 290, 307 and 291. Senior All-American candidate Kassidy Teare led the way for the Beach, tying for 13th at 1-over 217 (75-71-71).
INDY'S PLAY IN UTAH
Sophomore Felicia Taverrite and freshmen Breann Fox and Haley Tygret all played as individuals for the 49ers at the 36-hole Pizza Hut Lady Bird Invitational (Mar. 10-11) in St. George, Utah. Among 78 players, Taverrite tied for seventh place at four-over-par 148, followed by Tygret in 11th at six-over 150 and Fox tying for 19th at eight-over 152.

The 49ers recorded a two point victory over Big West Conference rival UC Irvine in the third Black & Blue Rivalry Match back on Mar. 7 at Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Irvine. LBSU recorded 3.5 points in the match play event, while the Anteaters collected 1.5 points. Senior All-American candidate Kassidy Teare, redshirt sophomore Savanah Knox and sophomore Jennifer Yu all came away with victories for the Beach.

The 49ers posted a third-place finish at the LBSU-hosted Gold Rush tournament at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, Calif. The Beach carded a three-round score of 26-over-par 890, finishing three strokes ahead of then-No. 25 BYU (+29) in fifth. Freshman Haley Tygret was the top player for the 49ers, tying for 12th with a six-over 222, followed by senior All-American candidate Kassidy Teare and redshirt sophomore tied for 21st at nine-over 225.

LBSU kicked off the spring season with a second-place tie at the All There August Challenge in New Braunfels, Texas. The 49ers finished five shots behind team champion Sam Houston State (+26) as the Beach compiled a three round score of 31-over 883 after posting rounds of 300, 287 and 296. Senior All-American candidate Kassidy Teare placed second with a two-over 215 (78-68-69), finishing just one stroke behind individual medalist Julie Houston of UTSA.

Teare closed out the fall season with six consecutive rounds under par. She recorded an eight-under-par 208 to win individual medalist by one-shot at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate. LBSU completed the three-day tournament in fifth among 18 teams with a nine-over 873. The 49ers finished with a three-day score of 10-under-par 854 (284-283-287). Senior Kassidy Teare was the top player for the Beach, coming up short of claiming her second tournament title as she finished two strokes behind individual medalist Anna Newell of Tennessee. Teare completed the three-day, 54-hole tournament at 16-under 200, breaking the previous three-day program record score by nine shots. Former LBSU All-American Kay Hoey posted a record 209 that was set in 2004 at the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic in Fort Collins, Colo.
