Long Beach State Men's Volleyball Duo Earns MPSF All-Academic Honors

LONG BEACH - Long Beach State senior outside hitter Dan Glamack and junior middle blocker Amir Lugo-Rodriguez have been selected to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Men's Volleyball All-Academic Team the conference office announced Wednesday morning.
Glamack appeared in 65 sets and started seven of 24 matches played. He averaged 1.02 kills, 0.57 digs and 0.31 blocks per set. The Victor, N.Y., native put down a season-high 12 kills in a 3-0 win over Mount Olive on March 4, and also had nine kills on .533 hitting in an MPSF quarterfinal match against Pepperdine (April 16). Glamack recently graduated with a bachelor's degree in accountancy.
Lugo-Rodriguez battled through an injury early in the season but ended up starting 14 of 18 matches played, including seven of the last eight contests. He averaged 1.31 kills per set and was tops on the team with 1.20 blocks per set. Lugo-Rodriguez registered a season-high nine kills vs. BYU on Jan. 22, and racked up a season-best seven block assists at Pepperdine (March 31). The South Pasadena, Calif., also finished with eight kills and no errors on 11 swings (.727) in the MPSF semifinals against UCLA. Lugo-Rodriguez graduated with a degree in consumer affairs and is currently working toward his master's.
Glamack and Lugo-Rodriguez helped Long Beach State to one of its best seasons in recent history as the 49ers reached the NCAA Final Four for the first time since 2008 and finished with a 25-8 overall record.
To be eligible for the MPSF All-Academic Team, student-athletes must maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA, be at least a sophomore academically, have completed one full academic year at their institution and must have competed in a minimum of 50 percent of the team's competition.
