Beach Falls To No. 5 Florida State 5-0

Long Beach State Beach Volleyball lost their first home match of the year to No. 5 Florida State, as the Seminoles defeated the Beach 5-0 on Wednesday.
Jenelle Hudson and Ciana Wagner had the closest match of the day as the pair lost a very hard-fought battle at No. 3 against Sierra Sanchez and Vanesa Friere. Long Beach State lost the first set 21-19, but rallied behind eight kills from each of the 49ers to even the set. In the fifth however, two aces from Sanchez helped turn the tide in a 15-10 third set defeat.
The Beach fell in straight sets in the other four matches. The closest came at No. 5, where Nikki Esposito and Hailey Luke dropped Megan Kruidhof and Morea Wagner 21-18, 21-15. Jace Pardon and Julie Brown defeated Nele Barber and Sammee Thomas 21-17, 21-9 in the top flight, while Kristina Pelliterri and Victoria Paranagua topped Rachel Nieto and Kobi Pekich 21-15, 21-15. The 49ers also lost the final match of the day, as Annie Montgomery and Kayla Joyce were victorious over Mykah Wilson and Zoi Konstantopoulou 21-15, 21-10.
Long Beach State returns to action on Friday, hosting Arizona State at the sand courts at 1 p.m.
