Long Beach, Calif. -
The Beach Athletic Club Membership Challenge launched Feb. 22 with nine captains and 45 ambassadors competing to recruit new members to the Beach Athletic Club.
The goal of the Membership Challenge is to increase membership in the Beach Athletic Club from 848 to 1,100 by June 30, 2016. The BAC is the fundraising arm of Long Beach State Athletics and supports all 19 Division I sports at the Beach as well the LBSU scholarship fund. Donors with gifts of $100 or more are considered members of the BAC.
The nine teams will compete for an intense six-week season, and prizes will be awarded to individuals and teams who recruit the most members and most dollars. Happy hour socials will serve as check in points where progress will be rewarded. The Membership Challenge Celebration, marking the end of the competition, will take place on April 7.
"I'm excited by the passion and intensity already being shown by our captains and ambassadors," said Sara Cerulle, Assistant Athletics Director for Development. "We are confident that this is going to be a hugely successful challenge thanks to their dedication and energy."
