
Gonzalez Fires Second Round 67 At Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic

KA'ANAPALI, Oahu - After two rounds of play at the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic, the Long Beach State men's golf team recorded a 5-under-par 279 to move up five spots in the standings to tie for 18th place at Ka'anapali Golf Course.
LBSU made a 31-shot improvement from Friday's opening round score of 310 to post a two-day score of 21-over 589.
No. 15 Georgia leads the field of 24 teams at 18-under as the Bulldogs lead second-place No. 13 LSU (-8) by 10 shots and 11 strokes over No. 7 Oklahoma (-7) in third.
Sophomore Andres Gonzalez continued to lead the way for the 49ers, firing a second round 4-under 67 to move up in the standings by six spots to tie for 14th at 3-under 139. The native from Mexico City, Mexico, recorded five birdies, 12 pars and just one bogey for the round.
Sophomores Joe Fryer and Patrick Pockels posted a nine-shot improvement to their second round scorecards as Fryer fired a 68 and Pockels shot a 71. Fryer jumped 46 spots in the standings to tie for 59th at 5-over, while Pockels moved up 19 spots to tie for 104th at 11-over.
Senior Agostino Milazzo carded a 77, falling 25 positions to tie for 108th at 12-over.
Greyson Sigg of Georgia and Chase Hanna of Kansas sits on top of the leaderboard at 9-under as both players lead the field of 132 players by one shot over two players tied for third.
Final round play concludes on Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. (HT)/10:30 a.m. (PT) shotgun start.
