BEACH SOCCER EARNS THREE NSCAA ALL-WEST REGION TEAM SELECTIONS

NSCAA All-West Region Team
LONG BEACH, Calif. - For the second year in a row, the Long Beach State women's soccer team has placed three players to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-West Region Teams the organization announced.
Senior midfielder Mimi Rangel and junior forward Ashley Gonzales were both first-team selections, while freshman defender Chloe Froment received second team honors.
Rangel earned her third All-West Region award after being named Big West Midfielder of the Year for the second time in her career. The Chino Hills, Calif., native put together a strong senior season as she scored four goals and added five assists to finish second on the team in points with 13. She was an integral part of the Beach offense as she tallied three game-winning goals to tie for second in the league as she helped lead the 49ers to their sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
Gonzales, the reigning Big West Offensive Player of the Year, also notched her third All-West Region award after turning in a stellar campaign on the pitch in 2016. The product out of Ontario, Calif., led the Big West with 11 goals on the year, while her 25 points were also tops in the league.
After being named Big West Freshman of the Year, Froment earned her first-ever All-West Region Second Team award. The Lyon, France native has done a solid job anchoring the back line for the Beach's defense. In addition to her stellar defensive efforts, Froment has also contributed on offense dishing out five assists on the year which is tied for the team lead.
With the trio leading the way, Long Beach State made its sixth NCAA Tournament appearance since 2008 and finished the season with a 10-7-4 record under head coach Mauricio Ingrassia.
