LBSU Takes Third At Bill Cullum Invitational

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. - The Long Beach State men's golf team posted a 277 in Tuesday's final round of the Bill Cullum Invitational to finish in third-place at Wood Ranch Country Club.
LBSU made an 11-shot improvement from Monday's second round score of 288 to move up one spot in the team standings. The 49ers completed the two-day, 54-hole tournament at 11-under-par 853, finishing four shots behind second-place UC Irvine at 15-under.
Sophomore Hunter Reed led the way for the 49ers, firing a final round 67 to tie for 11th at 5-under 211. After posting a par and an eagle on his first two holes of the round, Reed would record his only bogey of the day on his third hole to go 1-under. He would go onto finish his last 14 holes bogey-free that was highlighted by four birdies and 11 pars to finish the round at 5-under.
Sophomore Andres Gonzales carded a 74, tying for 17th at 2-under 214, while senior Agostino Milazzo (-1), sophomore Patrick Pockels (+2) and redshirt sophomore Joe Fryer (+6) shot rounds of 70. Milazzo tied for 21st, while Pockels tied for 38th and Fryer tied for 56th.
Senior Tanner Dice, who is competed as an individual, carded a 74 to tie for 66th at 9-over.
UC Santa Barbara captured the team title with a 31-under 833 as the Gauchos won by a comfortable 16 shots over the Anteaters.
USC's Jonah Texira, who is competing as an individual, captured individual medalist with a record 14-under 202, winning by two shots over Fidel Concepcion (-12) of Southern Utah.
The 49ers return to action on Thursday, Oct. 27, for the three-day Visit Stockton Pacific Invitational at the Stockton Golf & Country Club.
