LONG BEACH - Long Beach State head women's golf coach Joey Cerulle has announced the field for this year's Gold Rush tournament that will take place Feb. 22-23 at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach.
"This year's Gold Rush field will be our strongest in the five years we have hosted," said Cerulle. "We look to forward to playing with some of the top players in the country while defending our home course and title."
LBSU won last year's Gold Rush team title by a comfortable 19 shots over second-place Fresno State. Senior Kassidy Teare finished runner-up, just one-stroke behind individual medalist Lea Garner of BYU. Teare, a 2016 All-American candidate, will look to take the individual title this year and add to an already glowing resume through the spring season.
This year's tournament will feature a 15-team field that is highlighted by top-ranked USC of the Pac-12 Conference and No. 28 BYU from the West Coast Conference along with Gonzaga. The field will also feature Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Nevada, Boston College, Idaho, Ole Miss and fellow Big West members Cal Poly, Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine.
The two-day, 54-hole event begins on Monday (Feb. 22) with first and second round action followed by the final 18 holes concluding on Tuesday (Feb. 23). Both days will begin with a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m. (PST). Live play of all three rounds will be made available on Golfstat.com. Daily results can also be found on longbeachstate.com.
