McKeown Named to Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week

LONG BEACH - Junior goalkeeper Ashton McKeown (Huntington Beach, Calif.) has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week the website announced on Tuesday.
McKeown was recognized after helping Long Beach State to an unbeaten road trip last week. On Thursday, Sept. 17, she matched her career high with eight saves in a 2-2 tie at Cincinnati. She came up big late in the game with a leaping effort in the second half and a diving stop in the second overtime. One of the two goals allowed was on a penalty kick.
Three days later, McKeown earned her fifth shutout of the year and second against a ranked team as the Beach topped No. 21/20 DePaul, 1-0, in Chicago, Ill. McKeown has also blanked then No. 4 UCLA, as well as USC and San Diego, who were both previously featured in the NSCAA National Poll.
On the week, McKeown totaled 11 saves, an .846 save percentage and a 0.90 goals against average.
Long Beach State returns to George Allen Field this week as it hosts No. 8 BYU in its non-conference finale on Saturday, Sept. 26. Kick-off is set for 7 p.m.
